About Jay

Jay Brown is a glass artist currently living and working in Williamsburg, Massachusetts. His artistic approach is simple; have fun with the glass, accept the molten material for what it is, and create a desirable form by the end of the process.

His works are made using a variety of ancient Venetian glass making techniques that have been passed down for centuries. He creates objects that can be used as both decorative and functional works of art.

Jay has been working with hot glass for over 10 years. During this time he has worked at many different institutions and held notable positions such as Hot Shop Manager at Josh Simpson Contemporary Glass and working as a member of the Hot Glass Team at the Corning Museum of Glass. Jay is currently engaged in a partnership with Snow Farm Craft School to advise, maintain, and help manage the hot glass studio at their Williamsburg campus.

A firm believer in continuing education in glass, he has both taught and taken classes at many educational institutions such as: The Studio at the Corning Museum of Glass, The Hot Glass Art Center, and Snow Farm Craft School.  Jay’s blown glass pieces can be found in select galleries and at craft shows throughout New England as well as at The Shops at the Corning Museum of Glass, in Corning, NY.
